Approximately 50,000 Australians served in Vietnam during the course of the war. About 19,000 of them were draftees. However, these are totals: actually in country at one time was generally around 6,000 men for a year. Keeping in mind, just as in America, the balance of the men (volunteers, roughly 31,000 men) were "draft-induced" volunteers; meaning they volunteered because they felt they were going to be drafted anyway.
