The Nazis did not have Polish-style ghettos in Germany, as they knew it would leave Germans uneasy, possibly very uneasy. Instead, in 1939-40 German Jews were only allowed to live in designated appartment blocks and certain streets in the main cities. The appartment blocks had a Star of David and the letter J above all entrances.
