The great majority of German soldiers in World War 2 were members of the regular armed forces, not the SS. The SS (stands for Schutzstaffel) was a special elite army. See related question below.

What can you do to find out what this medal is and what its worthit says waffen stadt which is hitlers private army and austria also pistol shooting championship 1937 spetember 26?

Waffen Stadt, translated is "Army City". Or could be called City Army, kinda like the Us Army National Guard. It does NOT say Hitlers Army. His Army was the Waffen SS. The Olympics were in Berlin in 1936, so in 1937 this was a pistol match and nothing to say it was a championship. If it happened near The Eagles Nest, it could have been a competition at a place called Bad Tolz, north of Garmische.
