There were many factors responsible for World War II. One political factor that contributed to this war was Britain and Franceâ??s reverse on their appeasement policy to a deterrence policy. This policy allowed these countries to declare war if Germany were to attack Poland.

World War 1 resulted in the implementation of the Treaty of Versailles on the defeated Germany by the victories Triple Entente (Britain, France, and Russia), among whom the French were the most vengeful for the heavy losses sustained in France from the German invasion. Amoung other things, this treaty forced Germany to pay a huge fee (equivilant to billions of dollars today) to the victors, mainly France, as a form of compensation for the damages and loss of life caused by the Germans during the war, and also severly limited economic and military growth in Germany, which was supposed to ensure it never again became a major power. The reuslt was a complete collapse of the German economy (hastened by the Great Depresion), which led to terrible living conditions in Germany. Thus when Hitler entered the polictical scene in the 1930's, and promised the people salvation, he received great enthusiasm and support from the people, desperate for a way out. Hitler also gave the people someone to focus their anger at; the Jews. He claimed that the Jews, being foreigners and "an inferior race", were responsible for dragging down the German people, by doing no work and living off hard working German citizens, which, although far from the truth, arroused the German people, which led to even wider acceptance of Hitler's ideals in Germany, which allowed him to rise to power.
