Nearly ALL OF THE WEAPONS used in the Vietnam War were products of the arms race. The cold war ended 15 years after the Vietnam War ended (1990). Weapons and equipment that we use now are improved versions of those "arms race" weapons. The ultimate US jet fighter bomber used in the Vietnam War was the F-4 Phantom II, all US Services used it. The 21st Centuries F-22 Raptor is supposed to be this centuries equal to the 20th Centuries F-4 Phantom. The following were "arms race" jets and all were used in the Vietnam War: F-100 Supersabre, F-101 Voodoo, F-102 Delta Dagger (President Bush's Jet), F-105 Thunderchief, A-4 Skyhawk (Presidential Candidate McCain's Jet), A-6 Intruder, A-7 Corsair II, F-4 Phantom, F-8 Crusader (see film: Dog-Fight Series History Channel, the "Last Gunfighter"), B-57 Canberra (Flown by GEN Chuck Yeager in Vietnam), B-52 Stratofortress Bomber, SR-71 Blackbird Spyplane, U-2 Spyplanes, C-130 Spectre Gunships (Propeller driven).
