In addition to over 500,000 lives being lost, the south was devastated by the war. The cities were in ruin, the infrastructure had been destroyed. There was a great loss of horses and mules. Perhaps more important was the lasting psychological damage and the effort to resume considering the people you had once fiercely battled and who may have killed several people close to you as your neighbors and fellow countrymen again.

The southern's town were destroyed and many had to be fixed. Most of the fighting was done in the confederates land so that is where the damage was.

One the worst damages from the Civil War was the loss of over 600,000 lives. Also, much of the State of Georgia was damaged severely.
