The home front was the name given to Britain during ww2. It was called so because despite there being no enemy soldiers there there was a lot of fighting and damage caused by bombing. there were many new laws enforced like the black out and the civilian population had to take part in more military jobs like firefighting, Anti Aircraft batteries etc.

They were called the axis powers. The USA and England and Russia along with many other countries were call the Allied Powers or Forces.
The name given to the countries fighting against Germany was Allies. This name was given to this group in both World Wars.
