The North wanted to abolish slavery. The South wanted to keep slaves. Abraham Lincon was one of the most important people in the United States Civil War. He signed the Emancipation Proclamation. He also o was President. Yay for Lincon victory!!!

In the north, it was mostly high class white folks and in the south it was poor whites with the exception of a few rich white men who owned slaves. The rest of the population in the south was poor blacks.
