A peninsula (such as Korea) can be patrolled and controlled by the US Navy (as was done in the Korean War 1950-1953). Vietnam had two countries (officially neutral in the war), Laos & Cambodia bordering N & S Vietnam's left (west) side. The Ho Chi Minh Trail went thru those countries (mostly Laos). The US would have had to involve Laos & Cambodia; WIDEN the war, in order to destroy/occupy the Ho Chi Minh Trail. This action could possibly involve Red China or the Soviet Union. Red China DID ENTER the Korean War when US/Allied forces invaded North Korea during the Korean War. The US did not want to widen the Vietnam War. This is Why Vietnam had to be fought as a "Limited War." Limited by restrictions on Where it could be fought, and How it could be fought.

The Vietnam War officially ended in April 1975 during the Fall of Saigon. The United States withdrew in 1973, therefore leaving the South Vietnamese Army to defend the country by themselves. North Vietnam had agreed to a cease fire in 1973, and the US had to withdraw under the agreement. By late 1973, North Vietnam broke this agreement and went on to capture most of South Vietnam. In April 1975, the government of South Vietnam resigned and the NVA took control of Saigon, before the communists took control, there was a massive helicopter evacuation of Saigon.
Nationalism - having pride in your country, willing to defend it
because he killed Ferdinand Magellan to defend our country because he don't want us Filipinos to be colonized by other country that's why he killed Ferdinand Magellan to defend the Philippines.
During WWII and Vietnam. Yes, during WWII and the Vietnam War, but to be more general, the military draft is used whenever the U.S. does not have enough voluntary recruits (meaning, when there are not enough volunteers). So, it could be argued that the military draft is used to "force" people into the army to defend their country. It has not been employed since the early 1970's.
To defend South Vietnam from the oppression of the Communist North Vietnam.
Somewhat democratic South Vietnam was a member of the South East Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO), so by treaty, we were obligated to help defend South Vietnam. We entered the Vietnam War to help South Vietnam stop Communist North Vietnam from their attempts to unify the whole country.
soldiers defend our country and our nation but they murder ppl just to do exactly that its contradicting
South Vietnam would learn to defend itself
To defend against Communist expansion.
America's policy was that we had spent enough lives and money trying to save a corrupt and inept country that couldn't defend itself (South Vietnam). Now it was time to let the inevitable happen, and that was to let South Vietnam fall to North Vietnam. The USA did it's best, but, we couldn't do anymore.
Because He died just to defend our Country

The North Vietnamese Government tried to unite the country, but South Vietnam resisted. When North Vietnam sent combat troops and propagation 'cadre' into the South to persuade them to surrender, the U.S. and other allies came into the country to defend the South against Communism. Because of popular sentiment against the war, the U.S. withdrew all troops by April, 1973 - leaving the South Vietnamese Army to fight for themselves. Within two years, Saigon (the South Vietnam capital) fell to Communist North Vietnamese forces, and the country was unified, making HaNoi in North Vietnam the nation's capital.
