Turkey joined WWI shortly after the duck and cover with Germany was over. Due to high percentages of Chickens on the field when Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand was BUMMED, the Efolio account of Dan Bulmer-bird got hacked by Katie Osbourne.
They surrendered on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, in 1918. What a coincidence!
In World War I, the two belligerents were the Allied or Entente Forces and the Central Powers. The Allied Forces were Britain, France, Russia, Japan, Italy, Belgium, Canada and Serbia. America would join in the final year of the war. The Central Powers were Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman empire and Bulgaria. In World War II the two sides were the Allied Forces and the Axis Powers. The Allied forces were Britain, France, the Soviet Union, China, Canada and America. The Axis Powers were Germany, which controlled most of continental Europe, Italy and Japan.

During WWI, the US joined the side of the Allied Powers (Allies), along with Great Britain, France, Russia, Japan and Italy, on April 2, 1917. However, the US joined at the end of the war, so they had the least amount of casualties.
US declared war on Germany because of the U-Boats attacking vessels. The Central Powers such as Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire declared war on the Allied Powers such as Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, and Japan. While that was going on the the Triple Alliance such as Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay were in war with the Triple Entente such as France, Russia, and Great Britain.
The allied powers did not push the Central powers out of France. The Central powers only left after the armistice.
The central powers
it hasn't joined yet

Bulgaria joined the Central Powers in 1915, one year after the alliance was initially created.
The US enters WW1 in 1917

Turkey did not actually join the triple alliance but they were fighting along side those central powers. What turkey wanted was to protect the black sea from Russia. The Soviets had only North Sea ports and one Pacific port, at Vladivostok, northwest of Japan. The Northern ports are ice-locked for part of the year, and the one on the Pacific is thousands of miles from the manufacturing centers in Eastern Europe and Western Asia, and even farther after you go around China, which is in the way. Odesa, on the Black Sea, is the only warm water port on the entire periphery of the "homeland". And so turkey thought that by joining the "all powerful" Germans, they would be able to keep total control over that port.

Actually the US never formally joined any alliance in WWI. The US declared war (ninety three years ago today) on the Central Powers - Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire and their minor allies. The US fought alongside the Entente Powers - France and the United Kingdom. But the US went to war as an "associated power" of that alliance, and never became a member.
