Truman
American involvement in Vietnam started with military advisors. The soldiers didn't come until later.it was a habbit of us to interfere in others affairs.
The prisoners on the First Fleet were known as convicts.
There were no American deaths in Vietnam during the administration of Harry Truman. The first deaths occurred in 1959 under Eisenhower.
First ground troops were sent to Vietnam in 1965.

Believe it or not, the first troops into Vietnam were not conventional troops. They were actually the Green Berets, or the 10th Special Operations Forces. They were there to train the South Vietnamese to fight the Guerrilla Vietcong in South Vietnam. They first went in country in the 1950's.
