Markiplier. They are both were they are to this day and the rest of the union is in the north from Kansas over. This created a struggle because it was hard to reach them, send messages and supply them with goods, because there were no Morse Code lines, or rail road tracks all the way across the country.

The country started to fall apart, kinda like the economy today. During the war, the southern states separated themselves from the rest of the US and became the Confederate States of America. They considered themselves a separate country, but both the Union and the Confederates were still American.
