A list of American World War 2 spies would include Moe Berg, John Birch, Joan Bondurant, and Eric Erickson. In addition, the list would include Frederick Mayer, Claire Phillips, and William G. Seboid.

One of the most remarkable spies in World War 2 was the Soviet spy, Richard Sorge, who organized a spy ring in Japan. Most importantly of all, in late Spetember 1941 he informed Moscow that Japan was not planning to attack the Soviet Union, at least for the time being. Earlier in 1941 Sorge had predicted the date of the German attack on the Soviet Union accurately to within one day, but his warning had been ignored. This time Stalin was, however, prevailed upon to take Sorge's report seriously. In October 1941 the Soviet Union moved its Siberian Army - its best trained and equipped force - from the Far East to Europe, and it played a key role in the defence of Moscow in November/December 1941.
