The English did not hate the Germans in WWI. They only disliked their tactics. The war was only over the assassination of the heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary. Plus, WWI wasn't only with Germany and the English, it involved the Russian Empire, the German Empire, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Ottoman Empire, the British Empire, France and, Italy.
