Soviet Leader Joseph Stalin supplied North Korea with arms and equipment and pressed them into attacking South Korea. The Soviets had occupied North Korea since 1945, when they declared war and attacked Japanese Armies spread out through that particular region. When Stalin died in March of 1953, the North Koreans signed the Armistice in July of that same year.
