The U.S. made a pact with several nations that we would unite against any Communist aggression. As with much of the international agreements, the United States took it seriously while many other nations refused to do so. Eventually the liberal media turned against the war and was able to change public opinion. Many members of the media had leftist leanings and some actually supported the Communist attempts to take over the world.
