History repeats itself .

NEW RESPONDENT.

Because the Civil War is remembered as the struggle which completed the Revolution and made possible the realisation of the ideals on which the republic was founded.

The memory of the war, the awful casualties of its costliest battles are not only sorrowful remembrances but are also bringing a glow of pride for the sacrifices the generation of that time was ready to secure those ideals for ever more.

What mainly persists are the values and qualities that inspired those citizen-soldiers and the thrill of the events of the war which are being seen as a historical drama.

The suffering of the wounded, the hardships, the fallen, the destructions though not forgotten are being somewhat held as "complementary aspects" of the conflict, because the Civil War was being romanticised since in the lifetime of the survivors by means of reenactment of the battles, National Parks, literature etc.. And such kind of activities are contributing to maintain its memory alive and popular among all the Americans.
