In general terms, the distribution of territory after World War I, as with any such redistribution after any war, might cause widespread dissatisfaction for several reasons. Furthermore, for persons who are displaced through territory-distributions, as well as for nation-states dispossessed of what once belonged to them, new resentments can easily arise. Such resentments can easily lead to powerful schemes to regain the territories that have been taken away, as happened in Germany with the rise of the Nazi Party in the 1930s -- and which led directly to the outbreak of another world war.
