Albert Gallatin
Albert Gallatin (1761-1849) was a US legislator, official, diplomat, and educator, notably the Secretary of Treasury in 1803 when Thomas Jefferson purchased Louisiana from Spain. In 1831, he founded the University of the City of New York (now New York University).
