Sorry kids, there are no secret compartments in the real Resolute Desk. There is a front panel that was added by President F. D. Roosevelt to hide his leg braces and wheelchair. There is a famous photo of Jon Jon Kennedy in it later. A good book about HMS RESOLUTE, the ship the desk was made from, has been written by Elizabeth Matthews - the historic notes at the back include the history of the Resolute desk itself- but the whole story begins with the ship and has such diverse characters as a sadistic commander, Quaker abolitionists, intrepid Arctic explorers, a pro-slavery senator, conniving politicians, an Irish sea captain's wife and her headstrong daughter, and Yankee whalers! Although there is a little room in the queens chamber

No there isn't any code underneath the desks
"A history was on the desk. Jill had written it."The pronoun 'it' takes the place of the noun 'history' in the second sentence.
It's a secret!
The Resolute Desk is the desk in the President's Oval Office. It does not have a secret lock, but in the movie 'National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets,' there is a secret compartment in the desk as part of the plot.

There are two Resolute desks, one of which is located in Buckingham Palace and the other of which is normally the desk in the Oval Office of the White House (though some presidents have used other desks). The desks are named after HMS Resolute, and are made from her timber.
This desk was given to President Hayes in 1880 by Queen Victoria. It was probably made that year or the year before, It was made from wood from the ship Resolute.
Yes. The code is 1876. There are numbers on the bottem of the draws. On both Resolute Desks.
President Reagan told me he had its legs lengthened because he taller than the last president to use it.
