∙ 11y agoThere were several methods for getting gold. Hydraulic mining was used to wash away whole hill sides. This destroyed the area where it was done and the damage can still be seen. Mines were dug into mountains and some are still working. For surface gold panning, the rocker, and sluice were used. There is still gold in CA and until recently it was too expensive to process gold so not many were looking for it.
