The first Americans were actually English, and they got here about 1604. And they got here by a boat, named the Mayflower.

If you mean native americans, than there are different philosophies, ranging from Israel by boat, Russia by a land bridge to Alaska, to others.

No one is 100% sure, but the main belief is that they walked over when a large ice bridge formed between what is now alaska and the easternmost tip of Russia.
