Type 2 nickels are worth considerably more if they have a D or S mintmark. The mintmark is located below the words "FIVE CENTS" on the reverse side of the coin.Below are average values for 1913 nickels in circulated condition. You may get more or less when you take them to a collector.Type 1 Nickels:No mintmark $6-$30D mintmark $14-$60S mintmark $3-$100Type 2 Nickels:No mintmark $6-$30D mintmark $84-$250S mintmark $250-$800If you believe you have a valuable coin the best thing to do is take it to a reputable collector and have him/her examine it.
