Not exactly, the brand did become very popular with the hip-hop audience originally in the late 80's and early 90's and fluctuating popularity through out the 2010's. The rapper Notorious B.I.G. was a fan of Coogi particularly the sweaters. Because of the high price and limited quantity only few could afford the brand which added to the mass appeal.
