The Germanic tribes, which probably originated from a mixture of peoples along the Baltic Sea coast, inhabited the northern part of the European continent by about 500 B.C. By 100 B.C., they had advanced into the central and southern areas of present-day Germany. At that time, there were three major tribal groups: the eastern Germanic peoples lived along the Oder and Vistula rivers; the northern Germanic peoples inhabited the southern part of present-day Scandinavia; and the western Germanic peoples inhabited the extreme south of Jutland and the area between the North Sea and the Elbe, Rhine, and Main rivers.

The Italian Sea Captain in the service of France who explored the Coast of North America from what is today the Carolinas and Nova Scotia was Giovannida Verrazano. He set sail in 1524 to search for a northwest passage to Asia.
It was valuable to them because the European countries claimed North America as their own in the early 1500s, and discovered North and Central America on accident while looking for a sea route to Indonesia.

"What sea is to Germany's north" Northwest.....the North Sea Northeast......The Baltic Sea
Germany is bordered by the north sea.
Germany is bordered by the North Sea and the Baltic Sea to the north.
Germany is adjacent to the North Sea. Poland is east of Germany, away from the North Sea. The Baltic Sea is adjacent on the north to both Germany & Poland. Germany would not need to go through Poland to get to the North Sea or the the Baltic Sea. However, the Polish navy in 1939 sent ships from the Baltic Sea to the North Sea by traveling west and north past Germany, and around Denmark. Or you may be thinking about the fact that in 1939 before WW2 started that Poland had a sliver of land called the Danzig corridor (by the Germans) that connected Poland to the Baltic Sea. However this piece of Poland cut through the old WW1 Germany boundaries, causing Germany's East Prussia to be separated on land from the rest of Germany. Look at a 1919-1939 map of Europe.
Germany has only two coastlines one on the north west to the North Sea and the other to the north on the Baltic Sea. Both Seas are a part of the North Atlantic.
