Best Answer

the practice of forcing an employer to hire more employees then needed for a job. Term used to describe the practice of a labor union requiring an employer to hire more workers than necessary for a particular task.Featherbedding has developed over time as unions respond to workers being laid off because of technological change. These lay-offs have caused unions to seek some way to retain workers, even though there may be little work for them to perform.

Why does government lie?

Because the truth will set you free and freedom is in direct opposition to what government is all about....government is interested in enslaving its citizens. We have our own share of the guilt, though; we do not make good government easy. We demand change and that the government do the things that need doing. Then we protest and vote against the ones who dare try. If you doubt the truth of this (this is being written in mid March 2011) check the News for the phrase "collective bargaining". An attempt is being made to get rid of union featherbedding, at least a little. And the people are out in droves protesting the people who are trying to save the state's economy, as if featherbedding (and forcing people to join unions, or pay just as much as if they were in) were a civil right.

Why doesnt the government tell us the truth about things?

They don't want to show you the truth because then they'd have a bad image of themselves, and they want us to think they are amazing, perfect, and always right. They also lie to us to "keep us safe". yes We have our own share of the guilt, though; we do not make good government easy. We demand change and that the government do the things that need doing.
