It was not an actual law, but they were referred to as Jim Crow laws.

Well the only person I am aware of being historically relevant for sitting at the front of the bus is Rosa Parks. However, she wasn't likely the first. Buses in all black neighborhoods probably had blacks at the front of the bus all the time. It was only an issue if a white person got on the bus. the law said they had to be allowed to sit at the front.
Blacks : Were not allowed to Go to college Were not allowed to Go to white public schools. Were not allowed to Use public drinking fountains Were not allowed to Use Public washrooms that were designated for white people (most of them) Were not allowed to Rent hotel rooms Restaurants that did not want to serve blacks, wouldn't, they would just let them sit there, Were not allowed to sit at the front of the bus,
rosa parks faced problems with white people, such as she did not give up her bus seat to a white person. Back then the blacks and the whites were very seperated, they did not "get along". she got sent to jail, and went into trial about the while bus seat issue. then proved everyone wrong.. that blacks and whites can get along very well. not many people knew that rosa parks was part of a peace school. trying to create peace between the different races.
There used to be countless ways that whites and blacks were separated, since blacks used to be thought of as inferior to whites. The separation of the two races would anything from separate water fountains or sections of seats on a bus to blacks not being allowed to go into certain buildings or businesses. Almost every social and day-to-day activity had ways for blacks and whites to be separated.
