There have been four presidents of the United Staes that have been assasinated:
Abraham Lincoln
James Garfield
William McKinley
John Kennedy
Andrew Johnson
The republican party was who wanted Lincoln to run for president. The other possible candidates were William Seward, Salmon Chase, and Edward Bates.
Symbolism over substance. Every other president wanted to have his own identity. B. Hussein Obama has no identity so he chose Lincoln's.
The first president to appear on a US circulating coin would be Abraham Lincoln. In 1909 Lincoln replaced Liberty on the Indian Head cent. However, other presidents such as Washington were considered for other coins such as the nickel prior to 1909, but were eventually passed on for other designs.
Other than the White House, Lincoln's last home was the Lincoln Home in Springfield, Illinois. This building is now known as the Lincoln Home National Historic Site.
James Garfield and William McKinley
Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy were all assassinated while they were US presidents.
Lots of countries have presidents. Assuming you mean the USA, four presidents have been assassinated; Lincoln. Garfield. McKinley. Kennedy. Here in the UK we've had one assassinated prime minister,Spencer Percival.
John F. Kennedy, but other attempts have been made.
Abraham Lincoln was assassinated while he was president and did not have a chance to take any other occupations.
Four U. S. Presidents have been assassinated. Five were shot, and at least one other was shot at without being hit, but it proved fatal for Abraham Lincoln in 1865, James A. Garfield in 1881, William McKinley in 1901 and John F. Kennedy in 1963.
he was assassinated...isn't that interesting? There are weird similarities between Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. * Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946. * Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. * Both were shot in the back of the head in the presence of their wives. * Lincoln was shot in the Ford Theatre. Kennedy was shot in a Lincoln, made by Ford * Both wives lost their children while living in the White House. *Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. * Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. * Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson. * Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. * Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.' Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford.' * Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse. Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater. * Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.
Lincoln's assassination had the great impact on the country. It left a leadership vaccuum at a critical time that could not be replaced. Garfield,McKinley and Kennedy were tthe other assassinated US President.
Lincoln & Kennedy Actually, President Lincoln's Secretary's name was not Kennedy, his Private Secretary was John Nicolay, and Assistant Private Secretary was John Hay. President Kennedy's Private Secretary was Evelyn Lincoln.
The assassin assassinated the other assassin.
It is sad, but yes he was the first president to be assassinated.Yes.
Of the four U. S. Presidents assassinated to date, only one, John F. Kennedy, was a member of the Democratic Party. Early Democratic Party member Andrew Jackson survived a shot to the chest in a duel of which Jackson was the challenger. The other three assassinated U. S. Presidents, Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield and William McKinley, as well as the other President to survive a gunshot wound, Ronald Reagan, were all members of the Republican Party.
