LIncoln died the next morning in a house across the street. Booth hoped that the assassination would inspire the South to keep fighting even though Lee had surrendered his army the week before. Actually, Lincoln was assassinated by a local actor. He was originally from the south and thought that he would be made a hero if he did away with Lincoln. He was also joined by a few accomplaces!
