Why do you call the period after the Civil War the reconstruction era?

"Reconstruction" was the word used during the War to describe the rejoining of the rebel states to the Union. It did not carry any pejorative connotation. During the so-called Reconstruction Era, 1865-77, it acquired the negative sense it has today, because of the theft and brutality of the Federal officials and their accomplices (the so-called "carpetbaggers" and "scalawags"). In recent decades such Marxist historians as Eric Foner have tried to rehabilitate the era by saying that Reconstruction failed because there was too much corruption on the part of Northern capitalists, and the radical Abolitionists quickly lost interest in their plan to destroy the South and replace the old ruling castes with Federal-backed negro governments."Neo-Confederate" historians occasionally answer that the corruption of the postwar years was endemic to Radical Republican rule, in North as well as South (for example the Grant Administration, the Jay Gould scandals, and the Boss Tweed ring).

What were the main cash crops in the south during reconstruction?

During Reconstruction, a new system of farming was developed. The neo-peonage method of using tenant farmers on farms came to be known as sharecropping. The economic devastation of the south led to most of the land being used for cash crops rather than subsistence farming. Cash crops were the traditional antebellum ones like tobacco, cotton, sugar and rice.

Why are women underestimated?

It has been like this as long as I can remember. I think it is because if a girl is very pretty, faults are overlooked people assume that the person will really not be smart because this is what happened to the girl in the past.It is not true, it is a misconception.Did you every here the expression: "I wonder how she got that job" implying a sexual favor for the position.Would be wonderful if all the world's people would be honest and fair. Someday it will happen. In religion, it's not that they are underestimated, more that they are either largely ignored or treated as servants to the will of men. That being said, the "underestimation" you speak of in relation to women isn't present in most polytheistic or hedonistic religions like Satanism, Neo-Paganism, and most Paleo-Pagan religions, where women are at least equal to men if not superior to them.
