The Irish migrated for many of the same reasons other peoples did. Religious freedom, fleeing other oppression, for adventure, a better life, because they were criminals and to make a better living. They also had a blight wipe out their crops in the late 1840s called the Potato Famine that encouraged them to find a better place to live.

There are various reasons, like searching for work or a better life. When times have been hard in Ireland, most notably in the famine in the 1840s, Irish people left Ireland and went to many different countries. Britain is close to Ireland, so many people went there.
