China
The establishment of spheres of influence in China by Europeans! :)
They had many countries under control with the power that they had from trading opium. These countries were mainly who they interacted with and communicated with. This allowed them to not get involved in anything in the west.
China
The treaty of Nanking was signed in 1842 and ended the First opium war between China and Britain and its results included the destruction of the Chinese navy.

seeds, peppers, and dates.not opium.
The opium war mainly began because of the British and China having an opium trade for tea. The British would get there tea if China got there opium. but the cause of the war was that china wouldn't accept opium anymore, and the british wern't okay with that.
east India company
The Chinese government called on Britain to stop trading drugs when they outlawed opium. Britain would not cooperate, nor would it stop trading drugs. This led to the Opium War of 1839.
The affect that opium had on people was mainly the First opium war 1839-1842. That war was between the British East India Company and Qing Dyunasty of China forcing China to allow free trade in opium. The era was known as the "end of Chinese isolation bringing them into modern Chinese history ending the monopoly of trading in opium. The rest is all history with the Chinese bringing opium to Sanfrancisco and addicting many Americans. hat
The Opium Wars (two separate events) were between the Chinese and the British empire during 1839-1842 and again in 1856-1860. It began when the Chinese began restricting trade, the British in turn began selling opium to Chinese smugglers who in turn began distributing it illegally in China leading to widespread addiction and a downturn in economic productivity and political unravelling.
Imperialism had a major affect on China. The Opium War played a major part of this. The opium war was provoked by the problems with European countries and China. British were getting tired of doing outside trading and wanted to trade directly with China. China had little need from the West. As a direct result the smuggling of opium began. Opium was forbidden in China except for medicinal use. The war was fought to determine the relations between China and the West, and as a result China was forced to reevaluate her position as the center of the world. Imperialism is most commonly related to historical content such as the ancient histories of Rome, Greece, and China.
mainly cotton, silk, salt, saltpeter, and opium.
In the 1700's Great Britain began smuggling opium illegally into china.
The opium wars where waged between china and the british government, who where acting on behalf of the east India trading company. The root of the war was that the east India trading company was suppling masses of opium to china, turning the country into a mess of addicts. The Chinese governemnt, for quite obvious reason, didnt want this, and so imposed massive import taxes on the opium. The east India trading co., who where basically the biggest coroprate bullys around at the time, with masses of political influence and fingers in all of the pies, responed by getting the british government to declare war on china. Britain was at this time in full empire building mode, and was basically a superpower, going around conquering countries left right and centre. Not even small countries, big massive ones like India, although back then they called it "colonising" and "civilising" the countries.
The first opium war began, in very brief words, because China wanted to control the importing of Opium from Britain, and Britain was not a fan since its largest export to China was Opium and imported tea.
