It was very old fashioned hence the world ancien which meant old. This meant that it didn't move with the rapid modernization of the western world and therefore was hated by many people. The taxes and things as such was very much based on the facts and figures of the time periods between 1700-1800, and as you know money was much higher back then. Therefore 10% of the incomes (which was what it was in the ancien regime) was quite alot for the people now. There is a very close saying of the president of the time and this statement by the inventor of the old regime '(H)ail (A)nciem (K)eron (A)esdi (N)ais' which translates to 'The anciem regime is oficialy old'
They resented their lack of political power under the Old Regime.
It meant nothing to the Ancient Regime. Absolute Monarchs ruled by Divine Right and with the full blessing of the Catholic Church. Under that set of rules and guidance there could be no Rights of Man and the Citizen.

"Ancien Régime refers primarily to the aristocratic, social, and political system established in France under the Valois and Bourbon dynasties (14th century to 18th century). The term is French for "Former Regime," but rendered in English as "Old (or Ancient) Regime", "Old Order," or "Old Rule"."
The "ancien regime" (old regime) refers to the French Monarchy, and ends officially on July 14, 1789, which marks the beginning of the historical period of the French Revolution. Even though French kings returned briefly in power in the first half of the 19th century, this is the "Restoration" period and not the "Ancien Regime" any more.
The reactionaries. Since the question does not specify which old regime we are talking about, we use the general term "reactionary" which means "someone trying to return things to the way they used to be".
The answer is The Old Regime
To both the old and new testaments
The term used to describe the society and institutions of France before 1789 is the Ancien Régime. This refers to the social and political system that existed under the Bourbon monarchy, characterized by absolute monarchy, a rigid social hierarchy, and privileges for the nobility and clergy.
The nobles, Nobility is the proper term. They have the best jobs and taxes went to them. Hope this helped.(:
A civilian regime refers to a government that is predominantly made up of civilian leaders who are not part of the military. In a civilian regime, power is usually vested in elected officials and civilian institutions, rather than military authorities.
Napoleon Bonaparte actually overthrew the Old Regime; he did not create it.
Without anything further to go on - I would make a guess that it refers to a group - government - administration - etc - that was elected/selected/appointed by the majoity of the people eligible to do so.
