An interconnecting system of rail lines found in Quebec, Ontario, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maine. It was comprised of several smaller subsidiaries, primarily serving the Northeastern United States and Eastern Canada. It now operates as part of Canadian National Railways.
Beacause Cartier thought that if all of Canada's provinces were untited the Grand Trunk Railway would be more successful. He Also feared that the United States would expand into Canada without The Queen Stopping them. The reason that Cartier wanted the Grand trunk Railway to succeed is because the Grand Trunk Railwway is one of his clients.
