There is no absolute standard. Question papers are assessed and pre-tested. Some of them are more difficult than others, and for those papers a lower pass mark will reflect a consistent standard. So the pass mark changes from paper to paper and from year to year.

You should take exam from Edexcel O-level examination or from Cambridge O-level exam?

For recognition: All GCE O levels from any board are treated equally. Difficulty level: The Cambridge Syllabus is very lengthy. Edexcel Syllabus is comparatively shorter. But the difficulty level is the same; Edexcel questions are for creative & intuitive minds while Cambridge emphasizes on knowledge. Chance of getting an A: Cambridge has the upper hand here. You will give 6 papers or so for a single subject, therefore, u have a chance to cover up ur bad exams. Not only that, Cambridge examiners are generous about marks while the Edexcel examiners enjoys cutting off marks. But, the problem is, most people fall sick giving the prolonged Cambridge exams. I mean, that's outrageous, a whole 1.5 months packed up with exams?

What is GCE O level in Singapore?

The"General Certificate of Education 'Ordinary' Level Examination", otherwise known as the "GCE 'O' Level" or the "O Levels" is the examination taken by students of Secondary Education in the United Kingdom, Commonwealth countries or regions associated with the British curriculum. The "GCE 'O' Level" is a subject-based qualification. The "GCE 'O' Level" in the United Kingdom is replaced by the "General Certificate of Secondary Education" (abbreviated "GCSE") in 1988. However, many Commonwealth countries and some British schools still retain the "GCE 'O' Level" through the examining boards of the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), American Council for Higher Education and Edexcel International.Note that the Singapore's "GCE 'O' Level", the "Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education 'Ordinary' Level Examination" is, though based on the CIE, a collaboration of both CIE and the Ministry of Education, Singapore; resulting in a notoriously more difficult version of the "GCE 'O' Level"
