It was a challenge for us who moved here because everyone

was familiar with the easy pleasures of our lives in Europe.

We had to struggle to even survive. Life was a challenge.

The first permanent settlers here in North America were the

gentleman of England. They came here to find gold, but instead

they found wild forests, cold and Indians.

Everybody, including the children, worked hard. The early settlers were farmers, fishermen, ship builders and many worked in the iron industry. Peope in the conly would cook, clean, make clothing, teach and attend school.
