Once women got better opportunities and got treated better, they saw the public world as more accepting.
During these periods women gained privileges in the work force because during WWI b/c of the lack of men for the work force women had to work and gained a place in society. This was not a true lasting effect but it helped progress their causes.
Women from Latin America worked in craft, textile and agriculture business while in Europe, they worked in factories and mines. The culture of machismo was prevalent in Latin America but in Europe women's suffrage movement was taking place.
During WWI a lot of the men in America had been drafted to fight in the war. So women and minority races were allowed to temporarily take the work in place of the men.
