The Roman did not fight the Anglo-Saxons. The merging of the native Saxon culture and that of the conquering Germanic tribes did not occur until long after the Roman Empire with drew from Britannia.
Boudicca lost her revolt against the Romans because she did not have the troops or the organization that the Romans had. She rallied her tribesmen to fight against the Roman army bu they were greatly outnumbered in men, weapons and strategy.
There were some minor incursions before 410AD but they did not really have too because the Roman legions left before they arrived. It was in fact the power vacuum left by the Romans which the Anglo-Saxons filled. They fought against the native Britons.

Because the Romans brought with them the education, Engineering skills, and the markets that made the wealth that made these things possible. When the Romans left they took with them the skills and instructions to build these things. At the same time the market shrunk and there was not the same pressure to educate them self. Freedom can be wonderful but it can also be a problem in the wrong hands.
