John Smith. The Virginia expedition was what the movie "Pocahontas" was based off of. The actual outcome was much different though. The Natives initially reacted with hostility, but after John Rolfe introduced tobacco to Virginia, he married Pocahontas (NOT John Smith. Common misconception thanks to the movie) and a period of relative peace followed.
