Well, if the British wouldn't have come to rule over India, then everything would have been changed. Some activities like the abolishment of Sati, or the introduction of Widow Remarriage Act, or even the abolishment of Child Marriage wouldn't have happened. We wouldn't have been speaking English also, if this rule never took place. We would have also been THE richest country in the whole world.

A woman whose husband passed away is a widow. A man whose wife passed away is a widower. If the surviving spouse remarries, he or she is no longer a widower/widow.

The Roman Catholic Church does not recognize remarriage unless the couple was married outside of the Church. The nature of marriage is such that it can not be unbroken. Therefore, an annulment is not a divorce, but rather a recognizing that a marriage never took place.
