I have that same question too. I think, according to my history book, that Hamilton wanted an alliance with Britain because it had the strongest economy. I hope this helps (;

Alexander Hamilton had been appalled by the violence during the French Revolution. He argued that the United States no longer had an obligation to uphold the terms of its 1778 treaty with France because he was made while France still had a monarch as opposed to a republic. Hamilton worried that pro-French activities might lead to another war with Britain and sent John Jay to England to work out a treaty with the British.

He didn't. During the French and Indian War, Hamilton was between not born yet and eight years old.
