He died from Mercury poisening due to the fact he was in a search of a potion/elixer of imortality. because many tried to assassinate him thus he became dillusional and thought everyone was going to kill him so he kept drinking daoist posions which contained mercury and arsnic which was the cause of his death and many illusions he seen. = = That last poster knows nothing of shi huangdi obviously. his mother's name is zischu too and was a look out for him at that sacred and hard time.

He died from mercury poisoning. His physician made him these pills that he said would allow him to live forever ( because he was terrified of dying) but the pills were made of mercury and eventually killed him.
