The Revolutions of 1848 happened for many reasons. First was the Potato Plight in Ireland which damaged the much of their crops. Also bad harvest all around Europe. People were starving but also prices were inflating because of the lack of food and so the working class had to spend about 50% or more on just food.

In addition to this growing nationalist ideals, the emergence of liberalism, socialism, and communism. The constitutional crisis's of the time began to show the working class the power that they needed to have.

Then the French Revolution sparked the rest of the revolutions and wars continued to precipitate from the Austria-Prussia War and the Franco-Prussia War.

There were a series of revolutions in Europe beginning in 1848. In France, mobs took the streets of Paris. France at the time was under the rule of Louis Philippe. The main causes of unrest were poor economic conditions of workingmen. In addition, other factors were involved:

* So-called Republicans were against any form of monarchy; and

* Groups calling themselves "Liberals" opposed the government's press censorship, corruption and voting restrictions.

As a result of the riots, Louis Philippe was forced to flee from France. The main effect of the 1848 French revolt was a more democratic government under Louis Napoleon. The major effect here was a chance for a more democratic nation.

There were revolts as well in the Austrian Empire. Due to poor economic conditions for the common man, the various peoples within the Austrian empire began a series of revolts. In Austria, the people wanted democracy.

Czechs and Italians within the Austrian Empire claimed national independence.

Hungarians within the empire also wanted the same. The pressure of the unrest forced the chief minister of the empire, Prince Metternich to flee.

The major positive effects of these European revolutions were the following:

* The Austrian Empire abolished serfdom;

* The fall of Metternich; and

* Universal male suffrage in France.

ANSWER

I understand your question as related to the wave of revolutions which broke out in Europe in 1848 against many Monarchies.

They broke out to obtain from those Monarchies, whose powers was absolute, a Constitution and in some cases like Poland and Hungary, the independence.

In case of France, the revolution led to the end of Orleans Monarchy and the proclamation of the Second Republic.

Why did the revolts if 1821 1848 and 1830 fail?

The European socialist revolutions failed in the face of strong military opponents that were able to oust the political leaders of the various "peoples" revolutions in 1848.
