The slavers took Africans and sold them as slaves in America. They didn’t bring slaves to England. Google the slave trade.
this may confuse you... but just that, the guards.... britain has several regiments designated as guards, for example the coldstream guards, etc. this goes back to pre-napoleonic times when guards regiment were seen as superior to regular ones (indeed soldiers in guards regiments had two ranks, one (the higher) for dealing with other regiments in order to back up their superiority, and the lower rank for use inside the regiment in order to allow it to function properly. by being seen as superior these regiments were considered appropriate to guard the queen.
The bearskin caps of the Grenadier Guards (No, they are Not Busbies) are worn in commemoration of the defeat of the French Grenadier de la Garde Imperiale at Waterloo. 1815. They are worn to emphasise height. & of course the Guards are not solely English ! Grenadier & Coldstream are, but the Scots Irish & Welsh all have Guards too and their tunics are buttoned in Regimental order ! 1 for Grenadiers, 2s for Coldstream ,3s for Scots, 4s for Irish & 5s for Welsh Guards.
