It could be argued that all royalty are criminals because they live in opulent luxury at the expense of the common people while the common people struggle to put food on the table.

The concept of Tsar Nicholas II as a criminal must be taken from a Bolshevik point of view but, either way, Nicholas could not be considered to be a great leader, especially in the light of so many of his accomplished predecessors.

Tsar Nicholas II was the Tsar of Russia at a time when Russia was the only country still embracing long established and deeply entrenched serfdom as the fundamental basis for its economy which, after the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, was in direct conflict with the ideals of the new Soviet Union, being a Workers State, run by the workers for the workers.

Russia suffered a humiliating and crushing defeat at the hands of the Japanese during the 1905 Russo-Japanese War by sending an ill-prepared, equipped and managed navy off to do battle with the better equipped, prepared and led Japanese.

In a project commenced by his father Alexander III, Nicholas bankrupted Russia and created a huge foreign debt with the completion of the cheaply and shoddily built Trans-Siberian Railway.

Also, Tsar Nicholas involved Russia in World War 1, an expensive and grossly mismanaged war (from a Russian perspective) that was regarded by the Bolsheviks as a war between Imperialist European interests and other Socialist hyperbolae. Due to the incompetance of the Generals, Nicholas assumed direct command of the army from the front leaving the capital in the charge of his gullible and susceptible wife, and open to such influences as Rasputin and others.

Since the collapse of the USSR, Tsar Nicholas II and his family have been sainted in the Russian Orthodox Church, which can only be seen to be an apology, since he achieved so little of any worth for Russia and Russians.

RESPONDING TO THE ABOVE, ONE DOES NOT NEED TO LOOK AT THE TSAR FROM A BOLSHEVIK POINT OF VIEW TO SEE HIS CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES. ALL OF THE "ACCOMPLISHED" TSARS MENTIONED ABOVE SEVERELY OPPRESSED THE JEWISH POPULATION WHICH THEY KEPT IN A GHETTO CALLED THE PALE OF SETTLEMENT. THE ROMANOVS ALSO SANCTIONED (AND SOME PARTICIPATED IN) RAIDS CALLED "POGROMS" WHERE ENTIRE VILLAGES OF JEWS WERE RAIDED AND BURNT AND THE PEOPLE IN THEM WERE TORTURED AND SLAUGHTERED. JEWS WERE DENIED AN EDUCATION, MANY OCCUPATIONS, AND WERE ONLY PERMITTED TO LIVE IN THE GHETTO. MANY WERE KILLED IN THE NAME OF THE ROMANOVS. THERE'S YOUR CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR.
