At this point, the bill is sent to the President. If he or she signs it, the bill becomes law. If the President vetoes the bill, it is sent back to congress. Now, it will take a 2/3 vote in both the Senate and House of Representatives to override the President's veto and make the bill a law. (It is very hard to get a 2/3 vote.) There is also a pocket veto where the President does nothing and just lets the bill die. (Look up pocket veto.)
Congress can pass a vetoed bill with a two-thirds majority vote in both houses.
I really dont know. i think it is that they may work together to approve a bill.
2/3rds of congress must vote to override
It has to be passed by both houses of Congress before it can be vetoed by the President. In most cases, Congress may then re-consider the bill and if it is then passed by a 2/3 vote in each house, it will become law.
Two thirds of the House and two thirds of the Senate. :) Two thirds of the House and two thirds of the Senate. :)
After a bill passes both Houses of Congress it goes to the President for the final signature.
The president
no. the president is the third part it has to go through. but if he vetoed it they can override him.
Pass through both houses of Congress for the bill to become law. Major bills become law through using a conference committee.
It is an act
After it passes both houses of congress.
If both houses of Congress pass the bill, it is sent to the President. If the president signs it, is becomes the law. If the President does not sign it, or actively vetoes it, it goes back to Congress. If it is passed by both houses of Congress again, it automatically becomes law, although override of a President's veto is realtively uncommon.
When a new bill is to be passed, both the parties of the congress are made to vote. If the number of votes are high, the bill is passed.
When Congress passes a bill and the president then uses his power of veto the bill can go through Congress again. If both houses then vote 2/3 or more the second time for the bill then it passes and becomes law.
