Although this is of course a matter of opinion, I would say 'a mosaic'. The reason: a melting pot suggests that all races and creeds in the USA intermingle, intermarry etc. and that group-related races, backgrounds, traditions and beliefs are hardly discernible. In the USA many ethnic groups are clearly different and proud to be, even while living and working closely together.
Whether it should be or not is immaterial. It is a "melting pot" of all nationalities. This as noted is entirely correct. It should be and has been a "melting pot" for the purpose of inclusion of minorities into the mainstream of USA society. This reinforces the goal of a harmonious and fair society. "Melting" benefits the USA and new people entering the nation.

Well, isn't that just a happy little question! The church is like a melting pot because it brings together people from all walks of life, backgrounds, and experiences. Just like mixing different colors on our palette creates a beautiful painting, the diversity in the church creates a rich tapestry of love, support, and community. Each person adds their unique brushstroke to the masterpiece of faith, creating a harmonious blend of unity and understanding.
The term 'melting pot' comes from the idea of taking many different forms of a specific type of object. Two examples of said 'objects' would be metals or cheeses. when you throw many different types of cheese into a pot and heat it up to melt them(hence melting pot) they mix together and form something different from any of the original cheeses. The same idea is put into New York City and other large coastal U.S. cities back in the late 1800s to early 1900s, when immigration to the United States was at its largest flow. So many different cultures and ethnicities were forced into such a small space that they inevitably mixed together and created a unique new culture only found in that region or country.

America is known as the "Melting Pot" of cultures. It is where all different societies of life come together as one in this great country we live in today. Now, it actually more known as the "Salad Bowl" because all these different cultures are solid like being in a salad, unlike us all melting together.
