Karl Rommel (the famous German General Erwin Rommel's elder brother) was a decorated pilot during WWI. The last documented evidence of his still being alive is a letter he wrote to Erwin in 1944.
Being a private citizen even then, nothing is known of what happened to him afterwards. If he survived the war (opinions vary on this) he probably lived out his life until sometime in the 1960's. He had 2 sons and a daughter; rumours are that one of them may have emigrated to the US.
