Frederick Douglas was most effective as an abolitionist as a newspaper writer. His counsel was sought by many wealthy abolitionists, however, his public speaking impact is an unknown factor. It was, if anything, probably overrated. There is no doubt however, that as a writer, he made himself well known.

The Asian cultures of China and Korea greatly influenced Japan. These two cultures are close to Japan. Korea has served as a bridge (of cultures) between China and Japan.

Their ideas on liberty, equality, and human rights inspired Latin American revolutionaries to seek independence from colonial rule and to establish democratic governments based on Enlightenment principles. Their works also shaped the development of political ideologies in Latin America during the 19th century.
The Japanese sent people across sea to learn about China, and the people would bring back knowledge on government ideas, art, architecture, and writing. In this way Japan was greatly influenced by China. Also, artisans from the Korean Peninsula brought information on bronze casting and ironwork to Japan. So Japan was influenced highly by China and people from the Korean Peninsula.

Two significant ideas that influenced life in the American colonies during the 1700s were Enlightenment thought and religious freedom. Enlightenment thinkers emphasized reason, individual rights, and skepticism of traditional authority, which inspired colonists to question governance and seek self-determination. Meanwhile, the pursuit of religious freedom led various groups, such as the Quakers and Puritans, to establish communities based on their beliefs, fostering a diverse and pluralistic society that valued individual conscience and liberty.
Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy of nonviolence and civil disobedience greatly influenced Dr. King's approach to social change. Additionally, Dr. King was inspired by the teachings of Christian thinkers such as Henry David Thoreau and Reinhold Niebuhr.
