He took the fight between France and England to the New World initially and away from Europe. Pitt's plan was to completely eradicate the French from the Americas and expand Britain's global empire. Britain had seen America as a great source of wealth, and had not wanted the French to take part in the riches. Pitt had contracted many young, ambitious men (i.e. Wolfe) eager to seek higher ranks of the military to take a lead in the war. He had promised ranks above their superiors, as well as many other glories, which, many other military strategists may not have risked doing. He worked his way into the King's favor, and he personally took control of the military and began an aggressive campaign to push the French out of North America.
